  • When trying to get a good tan, one will need to exfoliate the skin. While getting rid of the dead cells, don't scrub too hard as the skin underneath will get hurt.

NOVA SCOTIA

Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, the “Scotland of North America”, is served by Sydney Airport with connections through Halifax. Air Canada can get you to Halifax and Air Jazz will get you to Sydney. Step off the plane and head for the car rental counter where Avis, National or Budget can help you with the perfect vehicle for exploring this island.

Check out the Cambridge Suites Sydney for your first night. The best beaches are on the eastern coast with Martinique Beach Provincial Park being the longest at 7 miles. Facilities include picnic area, bath house, boardwalks and surfaced paths. Lifeguards are there July and August for swimmers and birdwatchers will have plenty to keep them busy.

Cape Breton Island Resorts have four resorts around the island so just move from one to the other and you will be assured of great accommodations in the “must see” places. The famous Bay of Fundy, site of the highest tides in the world, is a must see. Tide changes occur twice a day and are equivalent to the height of a 4-story building.

Travel around on a ferry and see the wide variety of sea life that the nutrient rich waters attract. This island receives a lot of precipitation so be sure to have Lands End SunShower rain gear handy. August through October is considered the prime time to visit for the best weather.
