Kentucky has 52 state parks that offer a wide variety of activities and outdoor experiences. There are almost 300 miles of trails from remote to under a mile of a self-guided tour. There are several stores to get all that you’ll need for clothing and equipment for your trek to one of Kentucky’s beautiful parks. Shop at your sporting goods retailers like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Academy Sports or Sports Authority to find all you’ll need for your trip.

Grayson Lake State Park is made up of sandstone canyons and gentle slopes on 1,512 acres located in Olive Hill. If you’re a golfer you’ll probably want to pack up those TaylorMade clubs and head to the Hidden Cove Golf Course at the park. This is a Signature Series course that was rated number four by Golf Digest in 2005. The fairways gently roll in and through trees and around to the beautiful and very scenic Grayson Lake. The course is challenging as it has large sand bunkers and large bent grass greens. The trail that leads to a gorgeous waterfall is three miles long and quite strenuous for the average hiker but has great vistas of the lake that are not to be missed. Along the trail you might spot deer, ruffed grouse, wild turkey and others.

Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park is located on the state’s southern border and offers a very refreshing and unflawed natural beauty. The park offers boating, fishing, swimming, picnicking and mini-golf. When out on your boat cruising you will see lots of inlets all sprinkled with islands. Fishing at Dale Hollow Lake is a fisherman’s dream with all the different species that can be caught. There are trout, catfish, several different kinds of bass, walleye and more. Take to the trails for some great hiking, horseback riding or mountain biking on over 15 miles of trail that mostly end up at the ridges that form the peninsulas into the lake.
